Cause and Effect

This may look like a simple game of just rolling small wheels, but to us and our tamariki - it is teaching the art of cause and effect.

This game creates a lot of questions for all.

What happens if I push the small wheels down the ramp? Can I roll the small wheels along the lines and keep them in there? Will they roll to the left or the right when I push them?

These are all questions that our preschool children are asking themselves without even realising—simple science in action. The teaching team understand that learning experiences do not need to contain a lot of complex equipment; it is how you use the resources that you have on hand to create learning experiences for all.

Simple science can be done anywhere by anyone at any time. As you can see in the photos, this also provides excitement, working together for a common outcome, trial and error, and having space and time to process the learning experience ahead.

Our door is always open here at Best Start Pukuatua for you to come and see this learning in action.
