For the last few weeks our tamariki have been busy participating in art activities to decorate our Diwali wall. We provided different coloured paint and glitter to them to explore. They all made beautiful rangolis and diyas (lamps) and we also made lanterns and hung them in the room. Kaiako provided colourful messy play for them to experience colourful Diwali.

Diwali is India's most important festival of the year— it is called festival of lights. It is a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil.

Our tamariki enjoyed dressing up in party clothes and enjoyed dancing on Bollywood songs and music, we also had party food at Kai time.

This links to Te Whaariki through communication as tamariki got the opportunity to experience an environment where they experience the stories and symbols of their own and other cultures. They also discover different ways to be creative and expressive.
