At BestStart Stoddard Road, we value the rich cultural diversity within our centre and celebrate special occasions that are meaningful to our children, whānau, and teaching team.

Recently, we came together to celebrate Eid, a joyful festival celebrated by Muslims around the world. We explored themes of kindness, sharing, gratitude, and togetherness, helping children develop an understanding of how different families and cultures celebrate important moments.

To make the celebration even more special, we hosted a shared lunch in the afternoon and warmly invited our whānau to join us. This was a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, share food and conversations, and celebrate Eid in a meaningful and inclusive way. It was heartening to see families spending time together at the centre, strengthening connections between home and BestStart Stoddard Road.

Celebrating Eid aligns with our commitment to inclusive practice and supports children’s growing sense of identity and belonging. By acknowledging and celebrating cultural events together with our whānau, we help children learn to appreciate diversity and develop respect for others from an early age.

A big thank you to our whānau and teaching team for supporting this celebration and for sharing your cultures, time, and traditions with us. These moments enrich our learning environment and help make BestStart Stoddard Road a place where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and included.
