Diwali brought colour, connection, and meaningful learning to our centre. Through dance, art, shared traditions, and hands-on experiences, our tamariki and whānau celebrated the Festival of Lights while strengthening cultural understanding and community ties.
This year, our centre was filled with joy, colour, and music as we celebrated Diwali – the Festival of Lights – with our children and their families. It was a vibrant and meaningful occasion that brought our community together to share traditions, stories, and laughter.
Children and whānau joined in lively dances, sang festive songs, decorated diyas (clay lamps), and created beautiful rangoli patterns that brightened our spaces. Through these activities, our tamariki explored creativity, fine motor skills, and teamwork while discovering the deeper meaning of Diwali – the celebration of light over darkness.
Families also shared their unique traditions and experiences, enriching everyone’s understanding of cultural diversity and fostering a strong sense of belonging.
Teachers observed children practising communication, collaboration, and problem-solving as they worked together to make decorations and perform traditional dances.
At our centre, we believe meaningful learning happens through hands-on experiences and active community involvement. Celebrating Diwali offered our children a joyful opportunity to connect with peers and families while developing essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
Through celebrations like this, we honour what truly matters – learning, connection, and joy – values that shine brightly in everything we do at our centre.
