What a big warm welcome back we have had here at BestStart Taradale! Over the past couple of weeks, the Young Children’s centre have been transitioning back into centre with excitement and ease. Our current project and planning focus, ‘Welcome back; Nau mai hoki mai’ has been a great success with helping children and whanau settling back in, building on their sense of belonging and knowing they have a place. Parents, whanau and children have all been raving about how useful our online activities, resources, ideas and videos were for their children over their time spent in their ‘bubbles’.

Our project wall has been displayed with all the amazing photos shared with us on Storypark from parents and whanau. We have recognised how meaningful this has been as children come in with excitement to look through all the photos and share their own stories from their experiences at home. The teaching team have been revisiting videos that we shared on story park, such as story times, sing alongs and special happy birthday posts. Our children have loved these videos and have made links to watching these videos at home during the lockdown period.

Over such an unexpected time, the teaching teams at BestStart Taradale have really displayed some awesome teaching strategies! Being creative, and fun with online learning that can be revisited any time with whanau at both centre and home.
