Celebrating Matariki at BestStart Te Aroha

Our Te Aroha Tamariki and Whanau have enjoyed a fun filled Matariki themed school holiday programme in July.  With a fun and exciting activity planned for each day we have really enjoyed a wide range of learning opportunities.  Our pepi loved creating some whetu art and finger paint fun on 'Messy play Monday'.  A group of our four year olds braved the weather and headed down to our local supermarket to purchase some vegetables for their vegetable soup that they prepared to share at our Matariki Whanau feast!  We shared a special evening with whanau we were we able to connect over our tamariki' learning and enjoy a shared kai in celebration of Matariki the maori new year.

We have been learning some wonderful responsibility in whare tamariki as there has been a lot of opportunity to help with food preparation.  We are learning to keep ourselves safe while using the grater and knives.  We are gaining such awesome independence!  We also shared in some special graduations for a few of our friends who are off to kura!  What an action packed school holiday programme so far"!
