Celebrating our region's rich history
Mid February heralds a special time at BestStart Greenmeadows. This is when our entire centre commemorates the anniversary of the 1931 Great Earthquake in Hawkes Bay. What fun and learning was to be had as we celebrated our region’s rich history. Our tamariki and kaiako celebrated in style, cooking up delicious scones with cream and jam, and scrumptious waffles! We all enjoyed the ambience of a beautiful vintage car, thanks to the generosity of one of our centre families, who brought in their glorious automobile for us to enjoy! We had a fantastic day chock-full of shenanigans dancing to music of the 20s and 30s, enjoying games of yesteryear such as Croquet and Pin-The-Tail-On-The-Donkey, and enjoyed the novelty of dressing up in our Art Deco outfits, amongst other vintage inspired experiences. Last-but-not-least we wrapped up the day in Art Deco style with our Soap Box Derby Races – such fun! It was also a poignant day as we acknowledged and celebrated the resilience of our Hawkes Bay community. Until next year “Tally ho for now!”
