‘Lalaga le si’osi’omaga mo se lumana’i manuia’ - ‘Weave an environment for a better future’

Here at Best Start Tawa South, we embrace the different cultures of our whanau as we value our rich diversity. During the year, we’ve celebrated so many different cultures, Chinese New Year, Nepalese New Year, Sri Lanka New Year and Holi Festival. We have the passion to broaden children's knowledge on culture and we embrace all cultures through Whanau who are happy to share their ideas and knowledge with us.

During Samoan language week this year, we were lucky enough to have teachers in our team who are Samoan to sharing their heritage and knowledge with our children. Our room was decorated in true ‘Island style’ and we learnt so much about Samoa and the lovely food that is very much a part of their culture. We also taught our tamariki about how the food is grown and the way of life of the people of Samoa.

At Tawa South we believe that by exposing children to the wide variety of cultures in our world, we will give them a deeper understanding of people and the vibrant world that we live in.
