This year's Samoan Language Week was a wonderful celebration of culture, language, and community. Our tamariki had many opportunities to immerse themselves in Samoan traditions through a range of meaningful and engaging experiences.

A special highlight of the week was the support from our whānau, who generously contributed delicious Samoan dishes for the children to enjoy at lunchtime. Morning and afternoon teas also featured a variety of foods, allowing children to explore different tastes and learn about Samoan cuisine.

Our teachers thoughtfully planned a range of experiences that brought the spirit of Samoa into our learning environment. Children participated in coconut scraping, creative arts and crafts, Samoan songs, and an Island Dress-Up Day that filled our centre with vibrant colours, pride, and excitement.

One of the most memorable moments of the week was a performance at Baverstock Oaks School. Tall Oaks Seniors received a special invitation from the school to perform in front of an audience of approximately 1,000 people. The children proudly showcased their learning and cultural appreciation, demonstrating confidence, enthusiasm, and respect for Samoan culture.

We are incredibly grateful to our whānau and teaching team for helping make this year's Samoan Language Week such a meaningful and memorable celebration. It was a week filled with learning, connection, and pride in the rich culture of Samoa.
