Celebrating the Circle of Security in Our Under 2 Room.
At BestStart Lynmore, we celebrate the Circle of Security as an important part of our practice with our pēpe.
We recognise that pēpe need the confidence to explore and discover the world around them, while also knowing they have a safe and secure place to return to when they need comfort, reassurance and emotional support.
Our kaiako are there to be a secure base as pēpe explore, play, learn and develop, and a safe haven when they need connection, comfort or support. By carefully recognising and responding to their cues, we build strong, trusting relationships that help pēpe feel valued, understood and secure.
These responsive relationships support emotional resilience, confidence and a strong sense of belonging. Through warm, consistent and respectful interactions, pēpe learn that their needs will be noticed and responded to, creating the foundations for healthy development and secure attachment.
This connects beautifully with Te Whāriki, particularly the principles of Ngā Hohonga – Relationships and Ngā Hohonga ki te Whānau – Family and Community, as well as the learning outcomes of wellbeing, belonging, contribution and exploration.
Our BestStart Heart of Learning teaching resource further supports us to reflect on how we nurture relationships and create environments where every pēpe can feel safe, connected and confident to explore.
Together, we are weaving a strong foundation of love, trust, belonging and learning for our pēpe.
