BestStart Morrinsville has recently been branching out into the community on regular excursions.

We have been to Wisely Park, which is a park/playground very close to our centre. We go here often to practice our Rippa rugby for future tournaments. Most recently, it has been feijoa season, so on our hikoi, we have the pleasure of picking up loose feijoas from a local tree.

Our tamariki love picking up and eating the fresh fruit, as well as the whaanau who enjoy giving them to us. We have been venturing into town to Mitre 10 to purchase vegetable plants for our mara kai. This excursion teaches our tamariki more in-depth road safety and public etiquette as we immerse ourselves in the local community.

Once returning to the centre we koorero about the excursion just been and the importance of being aware of our surroundings. And of course, the tamariki get to plant the fresh kai. A crown favourite at BestStart Morrinsville is a hikoi to the library. Our tamariki love making this journey and experience routines like reading, quiet time, singing and dancing, all while in a new environment.

We have had a very busy start to our year here at BestStart Morrinsville and we plan to take every opportunity we can to go out into our community.
