Children have been taking an interest in designing Rangoli patterns with roller painting and stencil and flour, using forks, spoons and pencils.
Rangoli is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as coloured rice, coloured sand, quartz powder or flower petals.
It is usually made during Diwali displayed at the entrance of one's house to bring good luck and money. It was great to see children using their developed fine motor skills, their creative imagination in choosing colours and making patterns to create rangoli patterns. Children are learning art forms from other cultures, learning new vocabulary and above all enjoying the experience.
