Developing our fine motor skills
In the kawakawa room we have been exploring a wide range of activities that promote turn taking, fine motor development , concentration an problem solving , improving creativity and self help skills plus so much more.
They have all been super keen to get involved, try new things and explore these experiences along with their Kawakawa Friends. This month there has been a lot of group play and development with regards to their social skills which is a great skill to improve , these skills have been taking place durning water play , role play , and ball play .
Two of the activities that have stood out in our kawakawa room this month has been cutting and pasting an water play . These activities develop fine motor skills and improves creativity , improves hand eye coordination , understanding measuring , estimating and volume , understanding float/ sink , full/empty an shallow / deep . The children have also been really enjoying role play as this allows for the children to act out and make sense of reality life situations , encourages them to explore , investigate and experiment and lastly develop their social skills.
This month we started cooking with Jodi which plays a big role in improving the children’s self help skills , durning cooking with Jodi the children are encouraged to make their own wraps or pizzas by following Jodi’s instructions.
The skills that we have been working on this month has been self help skills , fine motor development , measuring , estimating and volume , concentration an problem solving and hand eye coordination.
