Lights, laughter, beauty, and fun filled our centre as we welcomed Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with hearts full of joy, guided by aroha, whanaungatanga, and belonging. Our special evening event brought tamariki, kaiako, and parents together in a shared celebration, filling the centre with sparkle, colour, and laughter.

Everyone dressed in vibrant traditional outfits, their eyes shining with excitement, creating an atmosphere of wonder, pride, and delight that could be felt in every corner.

Tamariki explored the meaning of Diwali through stories, songs, and hands-on art. They painted glowing diyas, designed intricate rangoli patterns, and crafted delicate paper lanterns, transforming our spaces into a tapestry of light and creativity. Through these activities, tamariki discovered joy, imagination, and the beauty of learning together while practising kindness, collaboration, and respect for culture.

The evening continued with a shared feast, where kaiako, tamariki, and whānau savoured delicious food together, connecting through laughter, stories, and heartfelt moments.

Celebrating Diwali reminded us that light, love, and culture unite us all. In every smile, colourful creation, and shared moment, our hearts were full, our spirits lifted, and our community beautifully strengthened, leaving tamariki with memories of joy, belonging, and the magic of celebration.
