Diwali Evening
Diwali Celebrations: Over the past few weeks we have absolutely loved engaging in Diwali celebrations and learning all about the amazing culture and the true meaning behind this beautiful event. We have all loved being involved in our art's and crafts, creating beautiful colourful decorations for the classroom. We’ve painted with rollers and a variety of different painting resources for our lanterns. We've also been trying out new flavours in our kai!
Our children really enjoyed mango lassi ice blocks, vegetable and lentil curry with vegetables from our local vegetable shop. On Friday night we celebrated with our whanau. We invited our whanau to come along to an evening to celebrate Diwali, we dressed in colourful clothes, sarees, or suits to enjoy this event with. We had a range of activities for the children and whanau to engage in, such as diya painting, rangoli patterns, henna and a disco to Celebrate Diwali.
Celebrating Diwali, and a range of other significant cultural events with our families is a beautiful way to learn about our own and others cultures, for our children to know they can be confident and proud of their language, culture, and identity, and know that they are valued and respected by everyone within their learning environment.
