Here at BestStart Sir Tristram Avenue, we have a very warm and welcoming under 2’s space. This space is divided into two rooms, Uenuku (0-1 years) and Kikorangi (1-2 years).

We believe every child is magnificently created like a rainbow (uenuku) with lots of talents, skills and potential. Hence, our Under 1’s space is called Uenuku, and 1–2-year-old space is called Kikorangi (blue). As the blue colour represents the sea and sky Kikorangi room is the place for vast exploration, creativity, and imagination.

Kaiako practice a very gentle, unhurried, and respectful routine in the Under 2’s space to keep them comfortable and transition well into their new learning environment. We suggest at least 3 visits with whaanau for children to feel safe and comfortable with their new Kaiako and friends.

Children’s well-being is the top priority in our centre and parents are encouraged to fill out an “All About Me" at the time of enrolment, which has details about the child’s interests, food preferences, sleep routine, and so on. In the Kikorangi Room, we prepare tamariki for their transition to Over 2’s space where they’re encouraged to be more independent and self-reliant. We offer a wonderful transition program and many transition visits with their Kaiako before they move on to the over 2’s space.
