Embracing Aroha as the Foundation of Learning
Kia ora koutou!
Welcome to Primrose Street, where the heart of our centre's philosophy is "Learning begins with Aroha". We know how important your tamariki are and how BIG of a decision it is to select an early learning centre for them. We'd love for you to consider us and help you make this decision. Here are some of the special ways our tamariki and their whanau experience Aroha on a daily basis with us.
Aroha, a central concept in Maori culture, encompasses love, compassion, respect, and empathy. At BestStart Primrose Street, we believe that nurturing a foundation of Aroha fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment for our tamariki (children). It allows us to develop meaningful relationships, celebrate diversity, and promote a sense of belonging. At BestStart Primrose Street, we are passionate about integrating te reo Maori into our everyday practices. We incorporate te reo Maori and provide children with opportunities to develop a strong sense of identity.
We use simple, child-friendly phrases, greetings, and conversations to encourage the use of te reo Maori throughout our centre. Our approach to the early years is holistic, recognising that tamariki learn and grow in all areas of development simultaneously. We provide a range of experiences, both structured and play-based, to support cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and creative development. Our curriculum incorporates te ao Maori (Maori worldviews) and is designed to empower children to explore their interests, express themselves, and develop critical thinking skills. At BestStart Primrose Street, we prioritise building strong relationships with tamariki, whanau, and the wider community.
We understand the significance of whaanaungatanga and its role in creating a supportive learning environment. We actively involve whanau in their child's learning journey, engaging in open communication, sharing aspirations, and valuing their contributions. For us, 'Learning begins with Aroha', and at BestStart Primrose Street, we strive to create an environment that fosters love, compassion, and respect for all. By embracing te reo Maori, we celebrate the cultural diversity of our tamariki and promote inclusivity. Our holistic approach to education, guided by whaanaungatanga and kaitiakitanga, ensures that our tamariki grow not only academically but also emotionally, socially, and environmentally.
We are proud to be part of your taitamaiti's learning journey, and we look forward to continuing to provide a nurturing space for their growth and development. If you also believe that, "Learning begins with Aroha," we invite you to contact us and arrange a visit to see and experience the BestStart Primrose Street difference for yourself!
