Our children explored a collection of natural materials, including dried leaves, flowers, and greenery, creating opportunities for curiosity, discovery, and sensory learning. The invitation encouraged children to engage with the environment in their own way and follow their interests through open-ended exploration.

As children touched, moved, and observed the materials, they discovered differences in texture, colour, shape, and size. Some children carefully examined delicate petals, while others showed interest in the dry, crunchy leaves and the way the materials felt in their hands. These experiences supported children to build observation skills, develop curiosity, and deepen their understanding of the natural world around them.

Children also strengthened their fine motor skills as they picked up, transferred, arranged, and manipulated the materials with growing control and coordination. Exploring natural resources encouraged decision-making, concentration, and confidence as children independently created their own learning experiences.

Experiences such as these support children to become active learners who investigate, experiment, and make meaningful connections through hands-on play. Nature continues to provide rich opportunities for children to explore with all of their senses while building confidence, creativity, and a sense of wonder, while also developing deeper connections with nature each day.
