In the Kakano room (nursery) at BestStart Styx Mill the tamariki have been enjoying the paints with many different mediums. The tamariki are free to explore the paints to help them with their fine motor skills and as a sensory experience.

We allow the tamariki to explore at their own level such as having the paint on the ground for our youngest pepi to freely explore as he liked by stretching out to reach the paint. He had so much fun and even ended up rolling in the paint as he has become a keen roller.

For the older tamariki we provided a range of different mediums such as cotton tips, paint brushes, sponges, and stampers for them to be creative and expressive again at their own levels and are free to also use their hands for some finger painting.

Painting is one of the many learning experiences the tamariki in the Kakano room enjoy.
