In Te Whare Aho, our pēpi have been engaging in rich STEAM learning experiences through hands-on science play. Under the guidance of Teacher Louisse, tamariki were encouraged to explore and experiment in a safe, nurturing environment that supports curiosity and discovery.
Through these experiences, our pēpi explored shapes, colours, and textures, developing their sensory awareness while building early science and mathematical understandings. They experimented with different materials, observed cause and effect, and used their senses to touch, see, and feel the changes happening around them.
To strengthen the connection between home and the centre, Teacher Louisse also prepares STEAM home packs for whānau to enjoy with their children. These packs encourage parents and caregivers to continue the learning at home, supporting meaningful interactions, shared discoveries, and continuity of learning beyond the centre.
Parents are also challenged to bring back what they made so we can display it in the centre, allowing children to reflect on and revisit their learning. These experiences support early cognitive development, problem-solving skills, and language, while also fostering confidence and a sense of wonder. It has been wonderful to see our pēpi so engaged and learning about the world around them.
