Recently the preschool have been exploring more sustainable ways to play. We have engaged in trial and error and problem solving to find the most effective way to do this. After a few tries we decided to use different flavoured teabags to create dye. This was a blast, as you can see we were able to smell the teabags and explore them together sharing our ideas and supporting the knowledge of others. As we would smell each one we would talk about what they smelt like and how they were different while predicting what colour it was going to turn.

The smells of the teabags were delightful and the colours changed so quickly. We then used the dye to create some pictures with cotton buds, supporting our expression of ideas, range of senses, colour knowledge, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, communication between peers where we could help one another and turn taking. This was also a great activity as we have had children settling into the preschool room and they loved being involved and supported by their peers.
