Fly Swat Painting
Ngā tamariki love being involved in creating wonderful pieces of art work. They show lots of enthusiasm and excitement when their ngā kaiako get the art cover and art jackets out as they rush to find themselves a seat. As of late they have been enjoyed creativity through a range of different modes and materials. One of their favourites have been the fly swats.
The fly swats are used as tools to paint with and this encourages our tamariki to explore and express themselves through a range of different modes and materials. Fly swats are a fun way to promote fine motor skill development as they grip onto the handle. It also promotes building their hand-eye coordination as they use their whole body to swat the paint onto the paper.
They love dipping the fly swat into the paint and then carefully hitting it down onto their paper. It is such a fun way to paint and our tamariki love sitting alongside their friends and learning and discovering how to use them from one another. Painting with different materials facilitates opportunities for our tamariki to discover and develop ways to be creative and expressive.
