Tamariki began to show an interest in sea creatures both in the Prep Room and at home, asking about sea creatures and wanting to know facts about them. As there was a wide interest in sea creatures we created the room planning to link to this interest and extend learning for all. Over the next couple of months we invited tamariki to a variety of sea related activities and experiences such as art, books, videos, puzzles, sign language and more. Art experiences were particularly popular as tamariki explored so many sea creatures from fish, sharks, turtles, crabs, jellyfish and so much more, developing their creativity, fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, concentration, self belief and more. As tamariki were creating so much art we developed a whole under the sea wall dedicated to displaying their creations and tamariki are very proud to show anyone who enters the room.
