Freaky Friday: teacher edition
A couple of Fridays ago we decided have a "Freaky Friday" at BestStart Te Rapa Kindy where a few teachers had an opportunity to spend a whole day in the different play space. So we swapped places to spend some quality time with the different age group, building new relationships and strengthening existing ones. Maui room teachers swapped with the Alpha teachers, experiencing different learning environment and effectively engaging with older tamariki. Alpha pups demonstrated an amazing sense of Manaakitanga by using their listening ears and making good choices, being considerate and kind towards their peers. They took responsibility for their learning and showed off some of the amazing skills that they posess through physical activities, dancing and various games.
Overall, this was a great opportunity for teachers to come out of their comfort zone and effectively engage with the different age groups. Step into each 'other's shoes' and experience the daily happenings, rituals and routines and, various learning environments.
