In the Whakapuawai room at BestStart Pharazyn Street, our tamariki have been showing interest in creating and constructing. We utilised the carpentry area to support and extend this interest. Carpentry is an activity that gives the tamariki an opportunity to build things. At the same time it helps to develop and practice a wide range of skills while developing capability and different ways to be creative and expressive. This activity also helps develop their manipulative skills, hand-eye coordination, muscular strength as well as contributes to their mathematical learning as they are able to solve problems, understand length, size, balance and force.
