Starting school is a big milestone for tamariki and their whānau, and at BestStart Manuroa we are committed to making this transition a positive, exciting, and successful experience. Our Set for School programme is designed to support children as they develop the confidence, knowledge, and skills they need for their next learning journey.
The Set for School programme begins as children approach five years of age. Our kaiako work alongside families to identify each child's strengths, interests, and learning goals. Through a combination of play-based experiences and intentional teaching, tamariki are encouraged to develop early literacy and numeracy skills, problem-solving abilities, independence, self-management, and positive social relationships.
Our kaiako also build strong connections with local schools, helping whānau and tamariki become familiar with the transition process and feel confident about taking the next step. Some of the primary schools in our local community include:
-
Takanini School
-
Conifer Grove School
-
Holy Trinity Primary School
-
Alfriston School
-
Papakura Normal School
-
Kauri Flats School
-
Cosgrove School
At BestStart Manuroa, we provide a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every child is valued and supported. Our experienced kaiako foster curiosity, creativity, resilience, and a love of learning through engaging experiences both indoors and outdoors. We celebrate diversity, encourage strong relationships, and create opportunities for children to learn, explore, and grow at their own pace.
Together, we help tamariki become confident, capable learners who are ready and excited to begin their journey to primary school.
