At BestStart Manuroa Road, our vision is to create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued, develops a strong sense of belonging and grows into a confident, capable learner. We believe positive relationships are at the heart of learning and work closely with whānau to support every child’s unique journey.

Our local curriculum is guided by Te Whāriki and shaped by the interests, strengths, cultures and experiences of our tamariki. Through play-based and child-led learning, children are encouraged to explore, question, create and develop independence. We celebrate diversity, honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and weave bicultural practices into our everyday experiences, ensuring learning is meaningful and relevant to our community.

Our Start with Heart programme supports infants and toddlers during their important early years, with a strong focus on nurturing relationships, wellbeing and holistic development. Through responsive care, intentional teaching and opportunities for exploration, children build confidence, communication skills, social competence and independence while developing meaningful connections with others and their environment.

As children grow, our Set for School programme supports their transition to primary school. Through focused learning experiences and opportunities to develop self-help skills, early literacy and numeracy, problem-solving and resilience, we help children build the confidence and capabilities they need for a positive start to school.

Learning extends beyond our centre through regular excursions and special events. Exploring our local community helps children build confidence, make real-world connections and deepen their understanding of the world around them. We also enjoy celebrating cultural events, family gatherings and centre-wide activities that strengthen our sense of community and belonging.

Our daily rituals and routines provide children with consistency and security. Warm welcomes, shared mat times, mealtimes, outdoor exploration and opportunities for reflection create a calm and supportive environment where children feel safe to learn and grow.
