Hands-on local learning
In our Rotoiti Room at BestStart Pukuatua we set up a provocation in a sand tray of Papatuanuku and Ruaumoko for the children to explore. This was a great sensory experience for our tamariki linking with our current planning, ngā Atua.
Children learned about some of our local areas in Rotorua such as Lake Rotoiti, Mount Tarawera, plus our farms and rivers. This is a great example of how we localise our curriculum, and it also links with our bicultural practice as well as science and nature!
