Here at BestStart Murphy’s Park we have just celebrated Halloween, Lockdown style. As we have just got two small bubbles currently in our centre, we shared a live mat-time zoom call with our friends/peers at home. We played some spooky music and danced together, whilst showing off our Halloween costumes.

For our tamariki attending sessions during the day, we created some spooky decorations and keepsakes to take home.

In the Piwakawaka room (Infants under 1) we created pumpkin keep-sakes out of salt dough. We supported the tamariki to press their hands and feet into the dough. Once the dough had baked in the oven we were able to paint these. Our tamariki painted using finger painting on the back of their keep-sakes to take home and share with their whanau. In the Kiwi room (usually 1-2 yrs) they created many different decorations around their space using different techniques and methods. They created spiders out of their handprints and beautiful pumpkins which could be seen on the windows as they had see-through panels with sparkling decorations.

Happy Halloween everyone!
