Happy Samoan Language week
This June, we celebrated Samoan Language Week.
It was such a special celebration for us as the children's parents could attend and be part of the occasion with us.
We celebrated through art, dance, music, incorporating the language in our practice, and food.
The children loved the different experiences and participated in each activity.
We made some beautiful Samoan Flags, tapa clothes, and Tuiga which is a ceremonial headdress. We also dressed up in our Samoan clothes and Samoan flag colours and danced to some Samoan cultural and traditional music.
Our meals for the day started off with some Samoan Panikeke, which the children absolutely loved. Lunch was Sapasui and fried rice, and afternoon tea was Koko Samoa and Otai.
It was a lovely way to end our week celebrating the Samoan community and their culture.
