At Delta Avenue, we take pride in recognising and celebrating the many cultures that shape our community. February was especially vibrant as we marked Waitangi Day, Hearts Day, and Lunar New Year.

For Waitangi Day, our Preschool tamariki learned about partnership and responsibility by creating their own version of Te Tiriti. They discussed the rules they felt were important for their learning community and then signed their agreement with thumbprints and names — a meaningful sign of their commitment and unity.

Hearts Day followed, with our Pēpi exploring a range of pink and red sensory materials. More than the colours and textures, the spirit of the day was evident as tamariki shared moments of love, kindness, and compassion while playing and learning together.

As the month drew to a close, our centre was filled with festive colour as we welcomed Lunar New Year. In many Asian cultures, this celebration marks the transition from winter to spring — a time of renewal, hope, and fresh beginnings. Our toddler tamariki embraced the season by creating beautiful cherry blossom trees using recycled bottles. Their creativity and joy shone through in every detail.

February offered many beautiful moments of connection — honouring history, sharing kindness, and welcoming new beginnings. We look forward to the next season and the continued growth of our tamariki and whānau.
