Hunt, gather, create
The children at BestStart Leeds Street have embarked on art exploration associated with our current programme plan of kaitiakitanga where we are guardians of our environment and protectors of all living things. The natural materials used in this art creation were gathered on the bush floor on one of our bush walks.
We are extending this learning to all habitats and environments and having conversations which include all the children. Books are available and other art experiences are provided which will give the tamariki opportunities to come up with solutions for the problems in our environment. These opportunities to discuss and contemplate our place on earth is an important step for our tamariki as they become our future caretakers and guardians of our planet.
