Independence

Here at BestStart St Albans, we believe in empowering our children/tamariki and one of the ways we do this is through fostering independence across both of our classrooms (Piwakawaka/nursery room for children/tamariki aged 0-2 and our pukeko/preschool room for children/tamariki aged 2-5). Some of the ways we doing this in practice in our classroom is through, supporting children to learn how to dress/undress themselves, set up and pack up their dishes for meal times, helping in the garden, managing their needs and communicating these through visuals and helping look after their friends/e hoa.
