We have had a busy start to our year in the Piwakawaka room (nursery, children aged 0-2)!
We have made the most of the warmer weather with lots of different water play activities for the tamariki/children to get fully involved in
They love to tip and pour the water as they explore early numeracy concepts such as volume (full/empty and more/less) as well as exploring if different objects sink or float. We have been doing some science experiments where the tamariki can explore cause and effect and chemical reactions as they mix different ingredients together.
In this classroom, we love story/pukapuka time! We do group story times where the children/tamariki learn social skills such as turn-taking and waiting as well as develop their communication skill and early literacy concepts through rhythm, rhymes, stories and songs.
The tamariki/children also love to read our books independently as they explore different play options and leading their own learning. Our children/tamariki love to get creative with lots of different art activities where they can let out their true Picasso!
