The early years are a crucial time for learning and development where sensory learning experiences have a multitude of benefits. Messy play is an important experience for supporting infants cognitive, social and emotional development. This is through the forming of neural pathways and activation of the senses, such as texture, taste and temperature. These valuable learning experiences are not only fun for infants but provide opportunities for development of fine and gross motor skills, cause and effect, early scientific concepts, early literacy skills and rich language acquisition.
