It's great being back together again!

Christmas is an exciting time and everyone enjoyed the Christmas break, but we couldn’t wait to get back to Preschool and see our friends again.

It has been lovely seeing the tamariki excited to see each other again, as they share what they have been up to in their home lives and get busy exploring and playing together.

Of course, we started off the year with our Holiday Funzone and the tamariki have enjoyed some special days together like face painting day, dress up disco, balloon and bubble day and more.  They especially enjoyed toy day, as they brought in a favourite toy to play with and share with their friends.  We love making links between home and preschool, giving the tamariki a sense of belonging as they know they have a place here.

Friendships are very important and are built through initiating social interactions, communicating with others and participating alongside others.  This is promoted here at BestStart Kevin Street as we encourage group play through fun activities and experiences.  The tamariki learn about sharing and turn-taking, working with others and compromise, communication through sharing ideas and listening to others, taking the lead and being part of the group.  Teachers are able to role model relationships, language, interactions, and provide positive guidance as the tamariki build on their skills through their time with us.

Fun and friendships are a part of the everyday here at BestStart Kelvin Street as we learn and develop and build on our knowledge and skills together!
