On this day, our mission was to deliver the leftover clothes from our BestStart Kelvin Grove Butterfly Plunket Appeal week, that had been donated as part of a $5 fill a bag fundraiser for Plunket.
Blake was especially proud to tell everyone at the BCC (Butterfly Compassion Community) that he was giving his and Julia's bikes from when they were little because they are too big for them now. Lana, from BCC, reiterated how kind it was that we were giving bikes and clothes to some children who really, really need it.
The tamariki were surprised to see a bed in the driveway. Lana explained that someone was coming to pick up the bed because they didn't have one. "Where do they sleep?" we wondered. "Some kids have to sleep on the ground because they don't have a bed at home, they will be so happy to have a bed now won't they" Pip explained.
It's a hard concept to understand when we are so lucky to have all of these things at home, but our tamariki were open-minded, thoughtful and considerate, thinking about those that aren't as fortunate as us. Thank you to everyone who supported our BestStart Kelvin Grove Plunket appeal week and in doing so, also supported the Butterfly Compassion Community.
We love these opportunities to teach our tamariki how they can make a difference to their wider communities. We were also excited to arrive back at centre with butterfly stickers and butterfly bubbles.
Kindness repaid with kindness - beautiful!
