Our beautiful, big backyard has become the perfect place for soccer training adventures.
Lately, the children have been making the most of the open space—exploring, running, and playing together as a team.
Using the backyard for training has helped children build their physical skills and learn how to work together towards a shared goal. There’s been a real buzz of excitement as we get ready for our upcoming soccer competition with our neighbours, all hoping to bring home the BestStart trophy!
During our sessions, the children took turns practicing their goal-kicking skills with Mr Kevin as the enthusiastic goal keeper. The laughter and encouragement echoed across the backyard! Everyone also had a go at being the goal keeper themselves, which gave each child the chance to experience different positions on the team and build their confidence.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we encourage children’s voices and ideas during our training. Children suggested new drills, shared strategies, and came up with fun team chants. It’s been wonderful to see how they negotiate, support one another, and share the excitement of learning and growing—both as soccer players and as friends.
Every session is more than just practice - it’s a chance to connect, celebrate and discover what we can achieve when we work (and play!) together.
