During the past month teachers and children have been preparing our planter gardens and planting seeds and plants together. The children were excited to dig holes for our seeds and plants and had a great time taking turns at putting some into the soil. The New World ‘Little Gardens’ which were kindly donated to us were fun to watch as the soil expanded when it soaked up the water.  The children have been enjoying watering them and watching them grow until they’re big enough to take home.  We’ve got plenty left over, so our newly turned over gardens will be flourishing soon.  The children have been busy watering the gardens over the last few weeks to help our plants grow, but have also enjoyed watching the rainfall and talking about how it will help our plants grow. During these processes children have further developed their knowledge and skills around the life cycle of a plant as well as gardening life skills. The delight on their faces as the plants have been growing and seeds sprout up, has been so awesome to see.  Learning how to respect their environment and what it can do to provide for us all is a great lesson we work to achieve daily.
