Recently I found two of our tamariki watering our garden. They were using a watering can and a measuring cup that they refilled using the garden hose. Having access to simple things like running water allows our tamariki to guide their learning. The tamariki have used water to feed our plants. They are making sense of the world around them, learning how things grow. They have also learned to turn the tap off after each use so we don't waste water. Giving our tamariki the opportunity to complete these tasks themselves promotes independence and respect. Here at BestStart Morrinsville we believe it is important for our tamariki to have the opportunity to lead their learning alongside each other and their kaiako.
