The tamariki (children) in The Children's House are working on literacy and developing their phonetic sounds. Our tamariki are working with sandpaper letters which helps the child to identify the phonetic sound of each letter and to teach them the correct direction of each letter, this encourages the children's ability to read and write.

The tamariki have access to a wide range of reading and writing materials and the kaiako (teachers) provide lessons to the tamariki who have interests in literacy. We strive on following the child and to help build their literacy knowledge and develop language skills.
