In our Horomatangi classroom, we are incredibly proud of our 4-year-olds in the Set for School program who have shown remarkable progress in their literacy journey.
Since participating in the program, these tamariki have embraced every opportunity to grow their letter recognition skills, and the results have been nothing short of inspiring.
Kaiako ensure that through a rich, play-based curriculum that fun blends with foundational learning, our children have developed a strong awareness of letters, sounds, and early word formation.
Daily exposure to engaging literacy experiences such as name recognition games, alphabet hunts and storytelling has helped them build confidence and curiosity around language. What is especially exciting is how quickly many of our tamariki have moved from simply identifying letters to understanding their sounds and even beginning to form simple words.
Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it is clear that the Set for School program is laying a solid foundation for their transition to primary school. We celebrate each child’s unique learning journey and are thrilled to see them thrive in an environment that nurtures both their academic and emotional development.
Ka mau te wehi, Horomatangi whānau, our future readers and writers are off to a fantastic start.
