At BestStart Dannemora, we had a special visit from our local police officers, and it was a meaningful experience for our tamariki.

The children were very excited and curious as they gathered to meet our guests. The officer spoke kindly and patiently, explaining what police officers do and how they help keep our community safe. One of the highlights was when the officer showed some of their equipment and explained how each item is used.

The tamariki were especially fascinated by the police uniform and tools, asking lots of thoughtful questions. There were many smiles, laughter, and engaging conversations throughout the visit.

A particularly exciting moment was when the children were given the opportunity to dress up as police officers. They proudly tried on parts of the uniform, making the experience even more interactive and memorable. This hands-on opportunity helped them feel connected to the role.

This visit supported tamariki in building a positive understanding of community helpers and reinforced important ideas about safety and trust. We are very grateful for the time the officers took to visit and connect with us.

Even though the weather did not allow us to explore the police car outside, the officer created a fun and memorable experience that our tamariki will cherish.
