Celebrating Community and Culture: Lunar New Year 2026 – Year of the Horse We were delighted to welcome 2026 and the Year of the Horse with our first event of the year, a joyful Lunar New Year celebration shared by our tamariki, kaiako, and whānau on a beautiful sunny day.
The morning began with a traditional tea ritual and a calming Tai Chi demonstration, offering tamariki and whānau a meaningful insight into cultural traditions.
A highlight of the celebration was the Dragon Dance, proudly performed by our tamariki with confidence, colour, and big smiles. Each room contributed with care, ensuring every child had the opportunity to participate and shine. It was heart‑warming to see so many whānau join us from Lunar New Year cultures and beyond , coming together to learn, celebrate, and connect.
Our tamariki showed great pride in their culture and learning, strengthening their sense of identity and belonging. Events like this reflect what makes our centre special: a welcoming community where culture is valued, learning is joyful, and whānau are an essential part of the journey.
✨ A wonderful way to begin the year , we look forward to many more shared celebrations throughout 2026. ✨
