Lynette, our local librarian, visits our Nursery regularly to share stories and music with our tamariki.
These visits are a special part of our programme and provide valuable opportunities to support early language development in a meaningful and engaging way.
Through listening to stories, songs, and rhymes, children are exposed to new vocabulary, rhythm, and expressive language, helping to build strong foundations for communication. Lynette’s warm and enthusiastic approach captures the children’s attention immediately. Tamariki gather with excitement, showing sustained engagement as they listen, watch, and participate.
They respond with smiles, laughter, and gestures, demonstrating their growing understanding of language and enjoyment of shared literacy experiences. Music times are especially popular, encouraging children to join in with actions, sounds, and repetition, which further strengthens their confidence and participation. These sessions also support social connections as children experience group learning in a calm, inviting environment.
Lynette’s visits help foster a love of books and storytelling from an early age, promoting positive attitudes towards literacy. By connecting with our local library, we are strengthening community relationships while enriching our curriculum and supporting tamariki to become confident communicators and active learners.
