Here at BestStart Lynmore, we celebrated Diwali with fun, colour, food, creativity, family, and community!
Our tamariki enjoyed an Indian-inspired curriculum cooking experience - our teachers made a Bombay aloo, chickpea, coconut and pumpkin curry, onion bahji and we enjoyed them together with our Indian whānau.
This way a lovely way of bringing the vibrant spirit of Diwali to life. It was a beautiful time to come together, celebrating our children and whānau. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring together all our cultures and experience the diversity and creativity that we are so lucky to have in our ECE community.
We’re excited to continue our celebrations throughout the week with art, music and dance- these experiences are meaningful and engaging for our tamariki. This links to the Belonging strand of Te Whariki, our early childhood curriculum, which tells us that children are more likely to feel at home if they regularly see their own culture, language and views valued in the ECE setting.
Ko te whakatipuranga tēnei o te mana ki te whenua, te mana tūrangawaewae, me te mana toi whenua note tangata - Children and their families feel and sense of belonging and place.
A heartfelt thank you to all our whānau who joined us and helped make this celebration so special!
