In the kawakawa room (preschool) this month there has been a variety of events that have taken place starting with our Holi celebration were the children got to learn and explore the different colours as well as relate these colours in a better way in their everyday lives.

We celebrated this day by allowing the children to express themselves through face painting by using a variety of colours. The next event we celebrated in the preschool room was Anzac Day, the children did "cooking with Jodi " were they made the famous Anzac biscuits , the children also learnt the history behind Anzac Day and the life of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers and about the famous Poppy. Due to Anzac Day, we invited all our Grandparents over for a shared afternoon tea which the children loved. They got to perform two songs Infront of their grandparents this was such a proud moment for all.

The children loved planning for those events , but also found time to explore our new interests within the room, this being a doctors corner which the children love exploring , this teaches the children about everyday life skills, what they can do if someone gets cut or scratched, what they can apply etc, this is a great way of making children aware of everyday situations and how to respond to them in case of an emergency. The children have also been very busy building forts and having a great time exploring them.

The children have also been very busy exploring insects by searching for them an observing them through the magnifying glass, there has also been leaf painting which extended from that activity. What is a month without messy play?, well of cause our pre-schoolers got involved in a slime activity which as set up in the mud kitchen , they really enjoyed exploring the different textures as well as exercising their fine motor muscles. This month has been a crazy, busy but great month in our preschool, there has been a lot of learning taking place as well as a lot of life skills the children have learnt .
