Matariki at our centre was a time to come together, reflect on our journey, and plant seeds for the future. With aroha, new connections, and a shared focus on kaitiakitanga, we celebrated unity, growth, and the spirit of Matariki.
As Matariki rose in the night sky this year, so too did the opportunity for us to pause, reflect, and come together as one whānau.
Matariki is a time that encourages us to look back on those we’ve lost, to celebrate where we are now, and to plant the seeds of intention for the future.
At our centre, this year’s Matariki celebration was especially meaningful. It was a time to honour the changes we’ve embraced, welcoming new kaiako, forming fresh connections with whānau, and strengthening the beautiful community we are building together.
We held a Matariki disco, not just as a fun event for tamariki and their families, but as a symbol of unity—a way to celebrate our growing team and the new relationships blossoming within our learning environment. It was a joyful evening filled with music, laughter, shared kai, and a deep sense of belonging.
As a new team, we are forming a new vision and philosophy, and at the heart of our centre focus right now is kaitiakitanga—the practice of caring for our environment, ourselves, and one another. This aligns beautifully with the themes of Matariki.
Through our everyday practice, we’ve been supporting tamariki to understand the importance of looking after Papatūānuku, of nurturing their own wellbeing, and of filling each other’s buckets with kindness and care.
Matariki offered the perfect moment to celebrate all of this. It reminded us of the importance of slowing down, coming together, and appreciating the journey we are on—not just as individuals, but as a community.
As we look to the future, we feel grateful for the strong foundations we are laying down together, with aroha, purpose, and whanaungatanga at the heart of everything we do.
