We created some kites which are now proudly floating in the Pukeko room,  stars to go on our wall to represent the Matariki stars.   To celebrate new beginnings we created and planted our very own veggie garden and we cannot wait to start harvesting from it.  All the children had been practicing their performance for a very long time.....Then during our celebration, they all gathered together to perform for our families who come in to help us celebrate.  To tie in all of our learning we had a Matariki afternoon celebration with a performance for our families, kai and a disco.  

This was such a wonderful time for our children and they thoroughly enjoyed learning about Maori art, waiata (singing/songs) and the legend surrounding Matariki.
