Matariki Preparations at BestStart Lambie Drive
Our children here at BestStart Lambie Drive were excited to be a part of Matariki celebrations and to make the Maori new year full of contribution from all, the children got involved in making decorations.
The Matariki kites were created as a small project which led to a bigger Matariki kite for the room. The Maori cultural knowledge was enhanced in this process and children felt a connection to the culture by reading books, talking about Maori legends, working in groups building social skills and dressing up as Maori people wearing the things made by them such as a koru necklace and crown.
